boon spoon

in short, the boon spoon rocks.

i flippin' love this product.

Boon Squirt Baby Food Dispensing Spoon in Kiwi

this product is a-mah-zing.  especially for mom's on the go.  before you leave the house, unscrew the spoon from the bulb, fill the bulb with your baby's food, screw the spoon back onto the bulb, snap the cover on the bowl of the spoon, and throw it (mostly gently) in your diaper bag.  i usually put it in a pocket to stand it up right.

pros:
  • you're not wrestling an alligator infant while one hand is holding a spoon and the other holding a jar of food. you actually have an available hand to help corral those precious hands of your baby's.
  • you can literally feed your baby while moving, i.e. you're in the biggest hurry of your life, and you can push the stroller while you feed your little.
  • the bulb of the spoon holds one entire jar of baby food.
  • it comes in four colors so you can color code your food.  i put my veggies in the blue one, and fruits in the orange.
  • there's no dirty spoon to put back in your diaper bag.
  • easy to clean and is dishwasher safe.
cons:
  • the bowl is a little deeper than my taste for beginning eaters (though it's not a HUGE problem).
  • liquidy foods (like applesauce or pears) tend to spray out toward the end of the feeding (but there's a way around this, i'll share at the end).
  • orange colored foods stain the boon spoon, but does not effect the integrity of the item.
  • unless you're able to stand the boon spoon upright in your diaper bag, i wouldn't recommend it. (or get a new diaper bag!)

tips, tricks and need-to-knows:

  • the boon spoon works best when it's held parallel to the floor.  when i first got it, i thought pointing it to the floor would be more beneficial, but found it was spraying food everywhere.  if you hold it parallel, the spoon does the work.
  • remember the "end spray" i mentioned in the cons?  at the END of the feeding, tilt the spoon down and GENTLY squeeze.  this nearly eliminates the spray.

hope this helps!

i would INDEED recommend this product to my very best friend.  it's stinking amazing.
